ENHANCED EFFECTS

FAQ
Does ProDHA use ethyl ester (EE) or triglycerides (TG) fish oil?

ProDHA uses triglycerides (TG) fish oil. Studies show that fish oil in TG form tends to have more benefits than ethyl esther (EE) form:

  • Higher stability:

TG fish oil tends to have higher stability due to its complex molecular structure and existence of unsaturated double bonds. This natural structure gives TG fish oil better protection as they are less likely to be affected by unstable molecules such as free radicals.

On the other hand, since EE fish oil undergoes chemical modification, it loses its stable form of natural structure during the process and exists as a simple linear structure. As such, EE fish oil is less stable and more likely to be affected by unstable molecules and hence have higher chances to get oxidised.

  • Higher bioavailability:

Studies suggest that TG fish oil is more easily and quickly absorbed by the human body when compared to EE fish oil.

A study suggested that the testers who ingested TG fish oil showed a blood DHA/EPA content 3 hours earlier than testers who ingested EE fish oil.

Another study further supported the findings by showing the bioavailability of EE fish oil in normal diet and high fats diet is 20% and 60% respectively while the bioavailability of TG fish oil in normal diet and high fats diet is 69% and 96% respectively.

What types of fish are used to produce ProDHA?

ProDHA uses fishes that naturally contain higher concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids. The fish oil in ProDHA is extracted from fresh anchovy (Engraulis ringens).

ProDHA contains 1000mg of fish oil in each softgel where 550mg of the total fish oil is omega-3 fatty acids. What are the components that account for the remaining 450mg?

ProDHA contains 550mg omega-3 fatty acids, made up of 400mg of DHA, 100mg of EPA and 50mg of other omega-3 fatty acids.

As a natural ingredient, there are other components that are naturally present in fish oil. This includes other fatty acids that improve the absorption of omega-3 fatty acids, phospholipids, and vitamins, some of which act as natural antioxidants in fish oil.

ProDHA uses only high quality fish oil that undergoes a 3-time molecular distillation process. During this process, impurities and heavy metals are mostly removed, leaving behind the beneficial substances, particularly omega-3 fatty acids.

Can children take ProDHA?

Parents can consider letting children aged 1 and above take 1 softgel of ProDHA daily.

ProDHA contains a high concentration of DHA essential for children’s brain and eye development. You may wish to squeeze out the content of the softgel to make it easier for your child to consume.

As every child's need is unique, we recommend consulting a paediatrician to obtain appropriate advice regarding your child’s specific needs.

If you observe any undesirable side effects due to the consumption of any health supplements, please discontinue the use of the product immediately and seek medical advice.

Can pregnant women take ProDHA?

Yes. we recommend pregnant women to take ProDHA especially during the third trimester to help with the infant's brain development.

Studies showed that infants whose mothers supplemented with DHA during their pregnancy enjoyed better brain health as soon as they were born. Studies also showed stronger visual and problem-solving skills of such infants as they progressed into their childhood.

As each pregnancy condition is unique, we recommend pregnant women to consult their doctor before consuming any health supplements.

Should I take ProDHA or Super EPA 2000? What are the differences?

ProDHA and Super EPA 2000 contain both DHA and EPA.

ProDHA contains higher DHA amount while Super EPA 2000 contains higher EPA amount.

DHA mainly helps to support brain functions and mental performance while EPA mainly helps to support circulatory health and reduce triglycerides levels.

ProDHA is suitable for those who wish to improve their concentration, brain and visual performance while Super EPA 2000 is suitable for those targeting to improve circulatory health.

Can people take ProDHA before surgery or child birth?

As fish oils generally have some blood thinning effect, it is suggested to stop consumption of ProDHA at least 2 weeks before and after surgery.

If you are pregnant and are due to deliver in a month, check with your doctor if you should continue your fish oil supplementation until delivery.
